随着计算机的普及及高校对图书馆的重视，图书馆建设越来越趋向于系统化和智能化，提出了采用计算机硬件或软件技术实现对自习室的辅助管理。而采用硬件技术为主开发的自习室管理系统存在成本大、功能弱、系统扩展性低等问题，并没有广泛实施。以软件技术为主开发的自习室管理系统相对于硬件来说则不存在相关问题，但目前相关系统的设计研究仅限于学生用户地理环境固定于图书馆，即必须进入图书馆才有可能订座的情况，并未考虑学生订座时机随意的情况，同时已有的系统设计前题都是基于校园一卡通系统，也未考虑外来用户的需求情况。在此基础上编写了用C++方式的图书馆座位管理系统的文档。
