主要介绍Oracle相关安装和配置的基本方法。Oracle是运行在Windows和Unix操作平台上的主流数据库系统之一。因为Windows上的Oracle安装配置相对比较简单，所以本手册只介绍Unix平台上的安装和配置，而且主要以Linux操作系统为主（笔者强烈推荐Linux）。如果不特别声明，本文档涉及的操作都是在Red Linux和Oracle9i上完成-introduces Oracle related installation and configuration of the basic method.
