It is a statistical technique based on dynamic reconstruction of time series and associated with empirical orthogonal function. It is a special application of EOF decomposition. The spatial structure of decomposition is closely related to the time scale. It can extract information from the finite-scale time series with noise. Now it has been applied to the analysis of many time series.)
